Guideway shafts & bushingsA simple way for transmitting a linear motion is by using hardened steel shafts and guide bushings. The guide shafts are hardened for durability and have a very smooth surface to allow the bushings to run with very little friction. There are several variants of guide bushings, such as with balls, but also of special plastic or self-lubricating plain bearing bushings. The choice depends on load, speed, accuracy and other environmental factors.
Guideway shafts and bushings are mostly used for linear movements where the load, speed and accuracy are much lower than with linear guideway systems. |
