Couplings and clamping elementsCouplings are used to connect shafts. There are many different types of shaft couplings which can be divided into flexible, elastic and rigid couplings. Choosing the right coupling depends on many factors, the power or torque to be transmitted, the speed, the application, environmental factors, the alignment of both shafts, diameters of the shafts, etc.
Clamping elements are used to rigidly couple shafts to each other but also, for example, to fix a shaft in a gearbox, to mount a toothed belt pulley on a motor shaft without backlash or to mount a shaft in a drum of a conveyor belt. |
