Gears and racks
Two or more gears can be used to slow down or speed up a rotational movement and to increase or decrease torque. By combining a gear with a rack, rotational movement can be converted into linear movement.
Rack and gears (pinions) are used for various linear movements and can theoretically be linked together infinitely. Rack and pinions are used in linear modules, for example in XYZ tables but also on ships where a crane moves from left to right.
